Estimates & disclaimer

Debt & Daylight helps you see a path out of debt. It cannot see your actual statements — so read this before you act on a date.

This is an estimate

Everything Debt & Daylight shows — the debt-free date, the months, the interest totals, the savings, the freed-up cash — is a projection calculated from the numbers you type in. It is not a quote, an offer, a promise, or a guarantee of what will happen.

Payoff timing depends on things Debt & Daylight cannot see or control: how your issuer actually bills, whether your rate moves, whether a payment is late, and what you spend.

How the math works

Each month is treated as 30 days. Interest is estimated as balance × APR ÷ 365 × 30, then rounded up to the next whole dollar, so the tool leans toward showing slightly more interest rather than less.

Your lump sum is take-home pay minus the bills paid outside the card and the minimum payments on your other debts. Living expenses are assumed to run through the Working Card and cycle back as spending.

When a debt is paid off, its minimum is assumed to roll into the next target the following month.

What the numbers leave out

Card issuers and lenders calculate interest on your daily balance, with their own rules on grace periods, average daily balance, and when a payment posts. Your statement will not match these figures exactly.

Not modeled: annual, late, over-limit, balance-transfer, cash-advance, and foreign transaction fees; promotional or deferred-interest periods ending; variable APR changes; minimum payments recalculated by the issuer; returned or missed payments; tax refunds or garnishments applied to a balance; and any new charges beyond the living expenses you list.

Loan figures assume a fixed rate and that extra or bi-weekly payments are applied to principal with no prepayment penalty. Some lenders charge fees for bi-weekly programs or hold payments until they add up to a full one — check before enrolling.

Commission, tips, bonuses, and one-time boosts are shown only if you enter them, and are treated as if they arrive exactly as planned.

Your numbers, your decision

Accuracy depends entirely on what you enter. Verify every balance, APR, credit limit, and minimum payment against your own statements before you act on anything shown here.
